What this calculator does
Find out what StockX takes from a sale and what you'll have left. At Level 1, the transaction fee is 9% and payment processing is 3%. That's 12% in all.
But cheaper items don't get that rate. There's a $5 minimum, and below about $55.56 it pushes the real percentage higher. This page shows you where that happens. The rates come from StockX's help page for sellers, checked on October 31, 2026.
Where it's used
Why this math matters outside the classroom:
- Sneaker reselling. A reseller sees a $200 pair pays $24 at Level 1, which is the plain 12%.
- Cheap items. A collector sees a $20 item pays $5.60, or 28% of the price, because of the minimum.
- Finding the break point. A student divides $5 by 9% and finds the minimum stops mattering at about $55.56.
- Checking a payout. A seller with no shipping charge enters 0 and sees profit on a $50 sale go from $28.50 to $33.50.
How to use it
- Enter the item sale price.
- Skip the shipping the buyer pays, since it doesn't count toward what you receive here.
- Enter what shipping costs you, including any seller shipping fee.
- Enter what you paid for the item, the sales tax rate, and any ad or boost fee.
- Read your fees, what you keep and your profit.
What the inputs mean
- Shipping the buyer pays
- Buyers pay shipping to StockX, so this page doesn't count it as money you receive. Changing it won't change your result.
- What shipping costs you
- A $5 seller shipping fee was announced in a 2026 update, but it isn't on the fee help page. If it applies to you, enter it here.
- Sales tax rate
- This doesn't change your result, because StockX's fees here use the sale price alone.
Formula and method
transaction fee = price × 9%, or $5 if that's more processing = price × 3% StockX fees = transaction fee + processing you keep = price + shipping − StockX fees profit = you keep − shipping cost − item cost
The transaction fee is your level's rate, charged on the sale price. This calculator uses Level 1, which is 9%.
StockX lists a US minimum Verified seller fee of $5. We assume it applies to the transaction fee, so that fee is never below $5. Processing is a further 3%, with no minimum.
The minimum stops mattering at about $55.56, since 9% of that is $5.
Your level can lower the rate. It's 8.5% at 12 sales or $1,500, 8.0% at 40 or $5,000, 7.5% at 200 or $25,000, and 7.0% at 800 or $100,000. Those thresholds are quarterly.
Worked example
You sell a $50 pair at Level 1. A $5 seller shipping cost applies, and you paid $10 for the item.
- 9% of $50 is $4.50. That's below the minimum, so the transaction fee is $5.00.
- Processing is $50 × 3% = $1.50.
- Add them up: $5.00 + $1.50 = $6.50.
- You keep $50 − $6.50 = $43.50.
- Take off your costs: $43.50 − $5 − $10 = $28.50.
Result: StockX's fees are $6.50 and your profit is $28.50, which is 57% of the $50 price.
Understanding the result
On a $50 item, the fees are 13% of the price, not 12%, because the minimum applies. The lower you go, the bigger that gap gets. On a $30 item, the fees are $5.90, or about 19.7%. On a $20 item, they're $5.60, or 28%. On a $100 item, they're $12, which is the plain 12%.
So check any cheap item before you list it. An item priced at $10 pays $5.30 in fees. That's more than half the price, and you still have your own costs to cover.
Check your shipping cost too. The default $5 matches a seller shipping fee announced in a 2026 update, but StockX's fee help page doesn't list it. If you don't pay it, enter 0 and the $50 example's profit rises to $33.50.
Your level matters most on higher prices. At Level 5, a $100 item would pay $7 plus $3, or $10, rather than $12. But the same 7% rate wouldn't help a $50 item, since the minimum would still apply. This calculator stays at Level 1, so your real fee may be lower.
Assumptions and limitations
- You're a US seller at Level 1.
- We assume the $5 minimum Verified seller fee applies to the transaction fee.
- Each fee is rounded to the nearest cent.
- This is an estimate. StockX's order details show the actual fee.
- Levels 2 to 5 aren't modeled, and neither are payout fees.
- The $5 seller shipping fee from a 2026 update isn't added for you. Enter it in what shipping costs you if it applies.
- The default counts $5 of buyer shipping as money you receive. Change it to 0 if that doesn't match your sale.
