Meet Cal
Hi, I'm Cal! I'm a pocket calculator who loves two things: getting the answer right, and dancing.
You'll spot me all over Calcapedia, usually in a costume and almost always mid-dance. Stick around, try on my outfits, and pick my next move.

Questions people ask about Cal
Why is the mascot a calculator?
Because every page here does a calculation, and Cal is the one doing it. His face is the screen, his tummy is the keypad, and his job is to get the answer right and show how he got there.
Why does he wear a ball cap?
It keeps the glare off his screen. He wears it backwards for hip-hop, which he insists is "for aerodynamics".
Can Cal do math while he dances?
He likes to think so. In practice, every answer on the site comes from code that's checked against reference values by thousands of automated tests, so even when he's mid-moonwalk, the numbers stay right.
Why does he keep changing clothes?
Each part of the site has its own look. He's a banker with money bags on the Money pages, a scientist in a lab coat for Science, a boxing champ for Sports and a tradesperson with a tool belt for Trades. Try them all on above.
What's under the cap?
A solar panel. Every pocket calculator needs one, and he's a little shy about it.
Does Cal ever make mistakes?
He's a calculator, so his math is exact, but he has stepped on his own sneakers during the Charleston more than once.
