20 quick questions built from this calculator's formula: work out results, predict what happens when an input changes, and work backward from an answer. Every answer comes with the working.

Please note: Results are estimates for planning and comparison. Lenders, banks, and tax authorities may round differently or include fees not modeled here, so confirm figures with your provider before deciding.

What this calculator does

Find out what a Vinted sale leaves you with, and what your buyer pays to get the item. There are no fees to upload or sell on Vinted. So the seller fee on this page shows $0, unless you add a promotion cost of your own.

The more useful number is the buyer's. Each buyer pays a mandatory Vinted fee, which used to be called Buyer Protection. It's usually 5% + $0.70, and the buyer pays shipping too. Knowing that total helps you set a price and answer offers. We read Vinted's help pages on October 31, 2026.

Where it's used

Why this math matters outside the classroom:

  • Closet cleanouts. A parent sells a $50 coat that was bought for $10 and sees $40 of profit with no seller fee.
  • Answering offers. A seller sees a buyer's $50 budget really means an item price near $42.19 once the fee and shipping are added.
  • Pricing cheap items. A seller notes that a $10 item carries a $1.20 buyer fee, which is 12% of the price.
  • Budgeting as a buyer. A shopper adds $3.20 and $5 shipping to a $50 coat to see a $58.20 total before tax.

How to use it

  1. Enter the item sale price.
  2. Enter the shipping the buyer pays and what shipping costs you. These usually match.
  3. Enter what you paid for the item.
  4. Enter a sales tax rate, and leave the ad or boost fee at 0 unless you paid for a promotion.
  5. Read your profit and the extra fee your buyer pays.

What the inputs mean

Shipping the buyer pays
The buyer pays shipping on Vinted. Enter the same amount in both shipping boxes, and shipping won't change your profit.
Sales tax rate
This doesn't change your result on Vinted, because you pay no fee for it to affect.
Ad or boost fee, if any
We haven't modeled any Vinted promotion price. Enter a percent only if you know what you paid.

Formula and method

your Vinted fees = $0
you keep = price + shipping − $0
profit = you keep − shipping cost − item cost
estimated buyer fee = price × 5% + $0.70
buyer's total = price + buyer fee + shipping

Your side is short. With no fee to pay, your profit is your price minus what the item cost you, as long as shipping passes straight through.

The buyer's side uses Vinted's usual figure. Vinted says the fee is usually 5% + $0.70, and that it varies by item, value and bundle. So our number is an estimate. Vinted's checkout shows the real one.

The flat $0.70 means the fee is heavier on cheap items. On a $10 item, it's $1.20, or 12% of the price. On $100, it's $5.70, or 5.7%.

Worked example

You sell a $50 coat. The buyer pays $5 shipping, the label costs $5, and you paid $10 for the coat.

  1. Your Vinted fees are $0.
  2. You keep $50 + $5 − $0 = $55.
  3. Take off your costs: $55 − $5 − $10 = $40.
  4. The estimated buyer fee is $50 × 5% + $0.70 = $3.20.
  5. The buyer's total is $50 + $3.20 + $5 = $58.20, before any sales tax.

Result: You pay no fee and make $40, which is 80% of the $50 price. Your buyer pays about $58.20 for a $50 coat.

Understanding the result

No seller fee doesn't mean the fee has no effect on you. A buyer who sees $58.20 at checkout may think of your $50 coat as a $58 coat. That can reduce what some buyers will offer. It won't always, but it's worth keeping in mind when you set your price.

Here's a way to think it through. Say a buyer wants to spend $50 in total, with $5 shipping. The fee and shipping take up part of that. Your price would need to be about $42.19, with a buyer fee near $2.81. If that buyer sends you a low offer, this may be why.

Because you keep the whole price, every dollar you drop comes straight out of your profit. Taking $5 off the coat turns $40 into $35. It also saves the buyer about $5.25, since the fee falls a little too.

The cost of the item matters more than anything else here. If you paid nothing because it came from your own closet, your profit is the full price.

Assumptions and limitations

  • The seller fee is $0, as Vinted's help pages say.
  • The buyer fee is our estimate, using the usual 5% + $0.70. The real fee varies by item, value and bundle.
  • The fee is worked out on the item price alone, for a single item.
  • Each amount is rounded to the nearest cent.
  • This is an estimate. Vinted's order details show the actual fee, and the checkout shows what the buyer pays.
  • Bundles aren't modeled. Your buyer's fee on a bundle may be different.
  • The buyer's total here doesn't include sales tax.

Frequently asked questions

Does Vinted charge sellers a fee?

No. There are no fees to upload or sell. The buyer pays the Vinted fee and shipping.

How much will my buyer pay on a $50 item?

About $3.20 in Vinted fees, plus shipping. With $5 shipping, that's $58.20 before any sales tax.

Is the Vinted fee the same as Buyer Protection?

Yes. Vinted renamed its Buyer Protection fee, and it's now called the Vinted fee. It's mandatory for buyers.

Why is the buyer fee an estimate?

Vinted says it's usually 5% + $0.70, but that it varies by item, value and bundle. So we use the usual figure, and the checkout gives the true amount.

How current is this?

We read Vinted's help pages on October 31, 2026. If checkout shows a different fee, trust the checkout.
